Weekend daytrip to neaby Saverne for a castle hike

Some friends and myself decided to hop a train this past Saturday to visit the small town of Saverne, which is about 30 minutes from Strasbourg.  It is known as a picturesque village with cute shops, Alsatian heritage, and castles!

 Above is the castle of Rohan, which is in the center of Saverne and is fully restored.  It now operates as the city museum with archeological finds and historical facts.

 We had to hike about an hour up a mountain to reach the really cool castle ruins of Haut-Barr, which date back to the 7th century.
